Welcome

The Green Finance & Development Center (GFDC) at FISF, Fudan University is a leading independent think tank providing research, advisory services, and capacity building for financial institutions and regulators for green and sustainable finance in China and internationally.

Our Work

The GFDC works at the intersection of finance, policy and industry to accelerate the development and use of green and sustainable finance instruments to address the climate and biodiversity crisis, as well as contribute to better social development opportunities.

The topics of our work at the Green Finance & Development Center respond to the needs and developments of the financial markets and related policies in China and internationally, while we also aim to provide evidence-based advisory and research for future policies and strategies to accelerate the greening of finance in policy and practice.

At this stage, the GFDC focuses on four inter-related core work areas to support green finance in China, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and internationally:

Green Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Lab

The Green BRI Lab provides in-depth research and advisory of China’s overseas finance in the countries of the BRI.

ESG Lab

The ESG Lab works with on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data, leadership and analyses.

Green Innovation Finance Lab

The Green Innovation Finance Lab accelerates the application innovative finance instruments and technologies for green development.

Biodiversity Finance Lab

The Biodiversity Finance Lab accelerates inclusion of biodiversity risks and opportunities into financial decision-making.

Working in partnership

At the Green Finance & Development Center, we believe that international cooperation is the key to build knowledge and provide advisory services to green finance in China and across the globe. In a time when international cooperation in economic development and environmental protection too often becomes political, we actively welcome international partners and work with commercial and public financial institutions, universities and research institutes, foundations and government-linked organizations in China, the European Union (EU), the U.S., Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and many other places.
